This beach is absolutely stunning, but getting there can be a bit challenging as it's only accessible by a dirt road from Platia Peramata or the beaches to the west. Despite its isolation, the water is crystal clear and there are some unique features to enjoy. However, it's important to note that there aren't any nearby amenities and the tamarisk trees on the property don't provide much shade.

If you plan on staying near Kathara nera beach, be mindful not to get too close to the shore as there are many pebbles in the sand.

Visiting this beach comes with the unfortunate downside of experiencing the less desirable aspects of southern Crete. The presence of greenhouses, plastic, tires, bottles, and agricultural debris on the beach is a common sight. It's unfortunate that every winter, the river carries them downstream.

There are many cars on the beach and a lot of garbage, which makes it less enjoyable. There are definitely many other beaches that are much better than this one.
