As I scoured Google maps for hidden gems in Crete, I stumbled upon a beach that piqued my curiosity due to its lack of information. With no expectations, we embarked on a journey in our rental car, winding along a steep mountain that sloped towards the turquoise waters below. As we approached a narrow stony path leading to the sea, I hesitated momentarily, aware that our car insurance didn't cover unpaved roads. However, we eventually took the plunge, maneuvering past boulders and navigating the treacherous path while admiring the towering rock wall on our left and the precipice on our right. It dawned on me why there was no information about this beach anywhere. After a slow and steady descent, we arrived at the end of the path where a small church stood in the shade of a large tree. Beyond it lay a wild pebbly beach, stretching for two kilometers and bordered by imposing rock walls. The beach was a raw and natural wonder, shaped by the relentless force of the sea and dotted with gargantuan rock formations. The stunning scenery was further enhanced by the presence of a smoldering Kareta, a mottled goat seeking refuge under the shade of a tree, and the rhythmic sounds of water splashing tirelessly against the stones. This beach was truly a hidden treasure, unlike any other.
