Lomba da Maia - all beaches

This beach has stunning black sand and convenient amenities like parking and facilities. It's said that the shallow water and thermal activity make the ocean here warmer, but despite that, the water was still pretty chilly when I went for a swim in mid-June. We arrived in the late afternoon and it was pleasantly uncrowded. Even though the water was cold, the beach's natural beauty made it worth a visit, especially if you've never experienced a black sand beach before.

This beach is absolutely delightful, boasting a charming restaurant that serves delicious food. Safety is a top priority, as there are always two vigilant lifeguards on duty.

This beach is exceptional and has a volcanic origin. It can be accessed by a brief yet challenging hike that takes about 15 minutes. It's recommended to wear sturdy shoes to ensure a safe descent.
