We stumbled upon the most exquisite beach in Hikkaduwa. Its vast expanse of sandy shoreline is unparalleled. The tranquility is unparalleled as it is not overcrowded. The sunset is a breathtaking sight to behold. However, one may struggle to find a shaded spot during the day. The waves are quite strong, making it an ideal spot for surfing enthusiasts, but not particularly ideal for leisurely swimming.
This seaside destination offers a secure and tranquil spot for a refreshing dip. With vigilant lifeguards on duty, you can enjoy the water with peace of mind. The beach boasts a serene atmosphere, akin to a secluded lagoon, making it an ideal spot to relax with loved ones. Don't leave your furry friends behind, as this pet-friendly beach welcomes them too. So, come and bask in the sun, swim in the crystal-clear waters, and make unforgettable memories with your loved ones.
We're staying at Jungle Beach Camp for three nights, which is located about one-third of the way down this pristine beach. It's the only proper beach bar in this area, although there are a few hotels where we could have gone for food if we had a longer stay. The sand is beautiful, fine, and golden, and in the morning, you can see a few fishing boats setting out their nets, so there's a chance of having fresh catch on your dinner table that night. There's a road running parallel to the beach, and towards the northern end, you'll find several shops. It's like a small piece of paradise, and the only reason I'm deducting a star is because it would be great to have some sun shade umbrellas on the bar tables, especially during the afternoon when there's no natural shade due to the west-facing shoreline.
It was a generally positive experience, though there were a few issues. The room wasn't adequately cleaned, and there were no facilities for making water or coffee. The bed was uncomfortable, likely due to an old mattress. The A/C didn't seem strong enough to cool the room properly. The hotel staff could use more training and discipline. On the bright side, the food was fantastic—delicious and well-prepared. The hotel's location was also good, providing a nice sea view from our room. The pool was excellent as well.
This serene and tranquil beach exudes a sense of calmness, yet it can also be unnerving due to the absence of lifeguards or fellow beach-goers. Despite its secluded location, this hidden gem offers a slice of paradise that is well worth the visit for those seeking a relaxing getaway.
