Undoubtedly, this beach stands out as the most exceptional one among all the islands. Its shoreline is adorned with pebbles while the water bed is covered with fine sand. The crystal clear blue water is a sight to behold. Although we only spent an hour there, we realized that snorkeling was not an option as the seabed was mostly sandy and rocky. However, it was the perfect spot for swimming. The parking fee is quite reasonable, costing 20 kuna for two hours and 40 kuna for the whole day.

This beach in Dugi Otok is the top choice. The daily parking fee is only 6 euros. The beach boasts crystal clear water and a mix of sand and pebbles. However, there is no shade available, so be sure to bring an umbrella. 😂⛱️

In June 2019, we visited Veli Žal and spent our first two days on Sakarun beach. However, due to the abundance of algae roots, we decided to explore the island and stumbled upon Veli Žal. In my opinion, it is the best beach on Dugi Otok. Despite the stunning clear water and sandy bottom, there were only a few people around. The beach is peaceful and lacks any food stands or attractions (at least during our visit), so it's important to bring your own food and drink to combat the scorching sun. A car is necessary to reach the beach, but there is ample parking and a fully paved road leading to it. Upon arriving at the car park, follow the small path (around 100 meters) to reach the beach area shown in the pictures. Other parts of the beach are composed of sharp rocks, so they are not very safe. I highly recommend this beach.

The beach offers white pebbles and crystal-clear water, offering breathtaking views of the open sea with stunning colors during sunset. Access to the beach is easy with a comfortable path from the parking lot, and the non-disruptive beach bar is a plus. Chemical toilets are conveniently located nearby, and parking is available for 15kn for 2 hours or 30kn for the whole day. It's recommended to bring an umbrella, and deck chairs and kayaks are available for rent. Though lying on a blanket is also an option if you don't mind the pebbles. The beach is suitable for children and even allows dogs to swim with their owners. However, be cautious of the rocky area near the parking lot.
