10 Exceptional

We spent a delightful two weeks at this beach resort during the 2023 New Year festivities. The waves were consistently high, reaching several feet over our heads every day! These powerful waves are perfect for experienced surfers seeking an adrenaline rush. There are also several hidden spots nearby accessible by a short car ride. The sand is black due to the presence of volcanoes in the area, but it is soft and powdery when dry, just like regular sand. The local restaurants served fresh and delicious food at reasonable prices, and the locals were hospitable and welcoming. We also had the opportunity to explore the Mayan ruins and coffee plantations, both of which were unforgettable experiences! We are already planning our next trip back to this wonderful beach paradise.

The beach doesn't seem to have anything extraordinary to offer. The sand is black but it's not the kind that looks appealing, it's rather dirty. Moreover, the beach is rocky and lacks any infrastructure. The water doesn't look inviting either. Overall, it's not a very attractive beach, but the sunset is quite beautiful, which is why I'm giving it three stars. As for surfing, it's a joke. There are no waves to speak of. It seems people around here have very low standards and tend to overrate places like this.

As a digital nomad, I was thrilled to discover that the beach area I visited had a reliable wifi connection with a download speed of 16MB. Even the Claro cell network provided a decent download speed of around 7MB. The best part was the proximity of the surf spot, which was just a short 5-10 minute walk away. The beach, known as Punta Roca, is renowned for its world-class waves, making it a surfer's paradise.

The beach area isn't the best as the coastline is completely covered in rocks. Despite being a surfer's paradise, there wasn't much activity on the day we visited. However, the most intriguing aspect of this beach is the line of beach shelters and vendors, which gives off an authentic third world vibe.

8 Very good

The beach is absolutely stunning with its pristine beauty. Although there are not many dining options or accommodations available, it is an ideal spot for surfing enthusiasts. The waves are quite substantial and provide an excellent opportunity for surfing. The sunset view is truly enchanting, and you can't help but feel relaxed and at peace with nature. It's a place where you can unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
