Despite it being August, we were pleasantly surprised to find a small beach with hardly any people. The sea was absolutely splendid. However, the only downside were the bees, although we did notice them pretty much everywhere.

Although it's been 15 years since my last visit, the beauty of this beach is still etched in my memory. My wife and I made the journey on a motorbike, but be warned, the mule track to Malfalcu requires a good off-road vehicle. It took us about 45 minutes to reach the beach from the paved road, and it was a challenging ride at times. If you're looking for seclusion and a bit of adventure, Malfalcu is a great choice over the more crowded La Saleccia. When we arrived in the morning, the beach was completely deserted except for a few cows grazing in the water. The sea was stunning and the only sound was the gentle lapping of the waves. This cove is a true gem of the island, and even in the height of summer, it's possible to find isolation. If you arrive by motorbike or off-road vehicle, make sure to bring your own food and water as there are no nearby refreshment places. The sandy seabed gives way to a large meadow of posidonia, which is unfortunately damaged by the anchors of larger boats. It's important to resist the temptation to light fires due to the high risk of fire, and instead, enjoy a simple day taking in the scent of the Mediterranean maquis. As the saying goes, Corsica can be recognized by its scent, and Cala di Malfalcu is a prime example of this. The intoxicating perfume lingers in your memory long after you've left. I've been visiting Corsica for over 30 years, and I can confidently say it's the most beautiful island in the Mediterranean and beyond.
