The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, providing easy access to a beautiful beach and boasting a delightful pool. The staff at the pool bar are friendly and the food is satisfying, particularly the gyros that taste just like those found in Greece. Despite the language barrier, the breakfast and pool bar staff go out of their way to accommodate our requests and make us feel welcome. The rooms are clean and spacious, featuring large balconies, and the air conditioning effectively cools the room.
However, the hotel falls short in terms of its rooms. The beds are uncomfortably hard and there is only one thin pillow provided. The showers are not properly mounted on the wall, the lightbulbs emit different colors and either blind you or barely illuminate the room. The WiFi is extremely unreliable, cutting out after a mere 15 minutes. The owner can be a bit gruff and dismissive, showing annoyance at the presence of sand in the shower and disregarding the opinions of the women in our group. Additionally, my personal room lacked a Do not disturb sign, resulting in the cleaners entering at 10am, which was quite unsettling.
In conclusion, while the hotel boasts a prime location comparable to that of a 5-star establishment, the rooms themselves are more reminiscent of a 1970s 3-star hotel. With some updates and modernization, this hotel has the potential to be truly exceptional and command a much higher nightly rate. I would recommend this hotel to those who plan on spending most of their time at the beach, by the pool, or exploring the numerous historical and cultural sites in Messenia. However, for those seeking comfort and a luxurious experience, it may be best to look elsewhere.
