Despite the negative reviews on booking, we decided to go ahead and book this hotel, thinking "how bad could it really be?" After all, we are experienced travelers who have stayed in all kinds of hotels around the world. As someone who works in events, I spend at least 100 days per year in hotels, so I figured that even in the worst-case scenario, it would be tolerable since we were only staying for one night.
Well, let me tell you, our experience at Coral was something else... and that's why I've decided to share our experience in detail to help others avoid this expensive and terrible experience.
To start off, when we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist seemed quite annoyed by our presence, which was definitely not what we expected from the front desk of a summer resort.
Despite booking two connecting double rooms for around 200 euros per night, we were given a small two-bedroom apartment that looked more like a cheap guesthouse from the 80s than a luxury hotel.
Next, we went down to their private beach, which had umbrellas and sunbeds for guests. However, the sand around the sunbeds was filled with trash. When we asked the waitress to clean it, she told us that we had to do it ourselves. After a heated argument, the manager reluctantly agreed to have it cleaned, but not before asking for our room number.
A few minutes later, the same waitress approached us and informed us that we either had to pay 10 euros for the sunbed set or spend a minimum of 3 euros each on drinks and food. We explained that we were guests of the hotel who had already paid 200 euros for the night, but she insisted that we had to pay for the sunbed set or order something immediately.
We have honestly never encountered a hotel anywhere that charges its guests for these kinds of facilities, let alone have their staff demand immediate payment.
