Absolutely incredible and beautiful beach. Make sure to look at the lights to see if it’s safe to go in the cave. And watch out for sneaker waves! There is a restroom 🚻 here. I suggest wearing boots as it can get mucky. It’s all around stunning!

This world-famous black sand beach is free to visit. It has been featured in movies and shows including Game of Thrones and Star Trek. The black rocks and sand were formed by volcanic action long ago. Swimming or even wading is not allowed due to the frigid water and strong current. This beach is a great spot for watching birds on the cliffs. We saw puffins and gannets. The parking lot is free but small.

Beautiful beach with incredibly strong waves. Makes for a nice long walk. Don't dare get too close to the waves. Perfect for slow exposure photography. Parking fee is 1000kr for 3 hours (not the whole day as other places in Iceland for the same price). There are WCs.

Beautiful as everything in Iceland. But be aware of insane amounts of tourists, especially during the summer season. You may also see some puffins, but this is not ideal place for them (better drive to Borgarfjordur Eystri)

A very unique and must visit location in Iceland. Back beach with basalt columns and very big and sneaky waves. A game of thrones location as well for fans like me. Be careful of the waves and respect the signs, many people had deadly accidents while trying to get close to the waves to take photos!
