The Spiaggia dello Scario is a must-visit for nature and swimming enthusiasts. On calm days, it feels like swimming in a natural pool with crystal clear water that deepens to a beautiful blue the further out you go. The volcanic base causes the ground to drop quickly from 1m to about 10m depth, and even at midday, the sun's rays illuminate the sea floor. You can spot a variety of sea creatures in the clear water.
The beach is made of stones, which can get hot during the day and make access to the sea a bit challenging, but it is still possible to walk barefoot. I recommend wearing shoes to the water's edge and then going in barefoot.
You can rent water mattresses and sun umbrellas, and the Maracaraibo bar offers high-quality food and drinks, some made with veggies from their own garden. The staff is friendly and eco-friendly, making efforts to reduce plastic use. The beach is also kept clean.
I highly recommend this beach as one of the most beautiful spots in Salina for swimming and relaxation.
