The beauty of Menorca's beaches is undeniable, but the damage caused by mass tourism is a tragedy. The water is polluted with oil and plastic, and fees are charged to enter the island, yet the government fails to adequately protect the environment. Rules are in place, but there is no enforcement, so you can find people playing loud music and boats crossing into restricted areas. There are few garbage bins on the trails, and much of the waste is left by those who don't take their trash back with them. Be sure to wear swimming goggles to spot the jellyfish, as there are often no warning flags raised. A day at the beach can quickly turn sour if you're stung, so take precautions and enjoy the stunning scenery responsibly.

Cala Mitjaneta is a popular destination for Spanish visitors. It boasts a stunning bay with crystal-clear water, but getting there can be tricky as it requires navigating a forest with plenty of rocky steps.

This spot is a sight to behold - the clear waters, the majestic cliffs, and the fine sand on the sea bottom. Although there are few places to sit, it's the perfect spot for a dip in the sea. Unfortunately, the presence of boats can detract from the serenity of this paradisiacal beach.

The beach was quite busy, even during the middle of June on an overcast Tuesday. The waters weren't as clear as I had hoped, and snorkeling revealed only one type of fish. Still, the scenery of pines, cliffs and more made the trip enjoyable. I'm not sure if Mitjaneta had an actual beach or just cliffs when I was there.

We hiked in to the beach at Cala Mitjana and it was a fun and beautiful hike, albeit a bit rocky and slow at times. Once we got near the water, the picturesque beach and bay surrounded by rocky cliffs and pine trees took our breath away. There were so many picturesque moments - the sand was soft and the water a beautiful turquoise blue. Plus, the best part is that it's free to enter! If you're a fan of hiking, there's plenty more to explore in the area.
