It resembles a tropical beach on a sunny day. The sand is somewhat unique. You can buy good coffee and food from a small van.
We stumbled upon this lovely beach area by accident while exploring the Peninsula. We easily found a parking spot, although it was later in the day. The water was clear and shallow, perfect for my boys to wade in. It was a hot day, so a refreshing dip in the cold water was just what we needed. There were several families enjoying the beach, some canoeing and others playing in the water.
You can't go wrong at Rossbeigh, just make sure to bring your coat. If you're lucky, you might experience all the beach has to offer without a strong ocean wind. This beautiful, long stretch of beach boasts stunning mountain views. It has waves perfect for surfing, dunes to explore, and great spots for swimming—everything you need for an amazing day at the beach. And don't miss the sunset; it will leave you breathless.
This beautiful blue flag beach is a hidden gem, even on a cloudy day in Ireland. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months. The road down to the beach is narrow and twisty, so drive carefully. We didn't have time to visit the Derrynane house, as the beach was too tempting. Our young children had a great time playing in the sand and water. There are rockpools to explore and even an Abbey and graveyard on an island accessible at low tide. The carpark is a decent size, but not very wheelchair accessible. There are bins and two public toilets, which were clean. It's definitely worth the drive to visit this beach, especially if the sun is shining.
