The problem with this beach is that there is no water, because if you want to swim you have to go hundreds of meters from the shore, which is often full of algae, with the shallow sea the water even disappears. It is often muddy water and at the east end it sinks into the mud. An absurd sea that I wouldn't even call a sea. Don't be enchanted by the photos (often retouched), because they don't reflect reality. A horrendous sea that they charge for in gold, perhaps the worst in the entire Italian Adriatic. In fact, in Friuli there are only two beaches: Lignano and Grado, then we find towards Trieste Sistiana which is more acceptable because it is high coast, there it definitely deserves more especially because you can swim (and I think that those who go to the beach demand this). The much-vaunted Friulian sea is actually mediocre, in Italy there are much more attractive seas.
The beach is free to access and if you walk to the end of the coast, you'll find a charming small pebble beach nestled near a rocky cliff. The water is crystal clear and the view is stunning. It's perfect to visit in the morning before it gets too busy. There's parking available near the beach with plenty of spots, some even in the shade, but it does come with a fee of around €10 per day. Alternatively, you can park for free in the serpentines in front of the area, but it's a 20-30 minute walk to the beach.
The beach was a fantastic idea and it was executed very well. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time there. The staff was kind and helpful, and the beach was clean and well-organized. It truly felt like a paradise for dogs. The rules were much more relaxed and manageable compared to other dog beaches. I highly recommend this place!
This was our first camping trip in Italy, and I must say, the campsite was well-maintained and conveniently located. Right in front of the campsite, there was a bus stop that provided easy access to nearby places. For those who brought their own bikes, there was a fantastic bike path leading to Grado, which we frequently used to explore the surrounding area. The campsite itself was well-developed, although some of the pitches, particularly those in the pine forest, may not have been ideal. However, our neighbors were able to switch pitches without any issues. So, overall, we had no complaints in that regard.
