We visited the beach on a gorgeous, sunny day and although the drive on a winding gravel road was quite long, it was definitely worth it. Although, I probably shouldn't mention that because now everyone will want to go there, which might ruin the charm. 😊
This beach is a rugged shingle beach with plenty of opportunities for long walks, exploring caves, and taking in the scenery. It's important to be cautious when swimming here, as the beach shelves steeply and the surf can be strong at times. At the northern end of the beach, there is a more sheltered cove called Monkey Bay, which can be accessed by steps. Additionally, there is a Department of Conservation campsite located at the northern end. It's worth noting that despite what Google may say, there is no beach pavilion at this location.
