The expansive sandy beach is brimming with surfers, offering a prime location for lessons and an intriguing spectacle of surfing schools in action. Though the ocean waters may be chilly, there are a few rocky lakes that provide a suitable spot for knee-deep wading, especially for children. The beach is abuzz with beach games and activities, adding to the lively atmosphere. Conveniently accessible from Porto's old town, the beach can be reached via the urban train line from either Campanha or Sao Bento station towards Espinho. The train stops directly on the beach, and the Andante card is valid for this line, which runs approximately every 30 minutes.

The expanse of the beach is quite grand, but the constant arrival of fishing boats makes it feel cluttered and noisy. While it may appear pleasant at first glance, the small barrage only serves to remind visitors of the potential danger lurking in the waters.
