Mee Sook Beach

We enjoy coming here to observe elephants playing in the ocean. The shuttle bus ride to the beach costs 100 baht, but the road is not too steep. It's a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours, and the staff is very friendly.

This beach is truly beautiful, but it may not be the best choice for those looking to take a dip in the water.

Amari Phuket Beach

We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights in January after arriving from Bangkok. The check-in process was seamless and quick, and we were initially placed in a ground floor, ocean-facing room. Due to an incident many years ago in Spain, my wife prefers not to stay in ground floor rooms. We requested a room change at reception, and it was not a problem; we were moved within half an hour. Note that a security deposit of 5000 THB is required at check-in. We were relocated to room 7218, which is right beside the hotel's private beach. The view was absolutely unreal—you could literally step onto the beach. The room was spotless and had a well-stocked mini bar. The Amari has three pools, but we only used the beach and the large pool with a pool bar and restaurant. None of the pools were ever too crowded, and the hotel provides fresh towels daily. We dined at the pool restaurant most days, and the food and drinks were brilliant. Of the two restaurants at the hotel, the first we tried was La Gritta, an Italian restaurant. What a place! We had a few drinks and accidentally ordered the 5-course degustation menu. There are plenty of other options as well, but it was the finest dining experience we've ever had, with a stunning setting to match. The Thai restaurant, Rim Talay, has different themes every night, and the food is outstanding—probably the best we had while in Patong. Lunch usually cost around £30, including drinks. You can charge all food and drinks to your room and pay when you check out, and it's worth every penny. Hotel beer was roughly £6. The biggest plus about the Amari is the staff. From reception to security, and the cleaners, everyone was very hard-working and pleasant, always smiling. This hotel is stunning, and I can't recommend it enough. Our stay was brilliant, and we'll definitely be back. It has to be one of the very best in Patong—5 stars, absolutely brilliant.
