Latest reviews on Sandusky's beaches

Lakeside Beach

The beach was once undeniably beautiful. However, in recent years, cooler weather and an increase in algae have posed challenges. Consequently, a pool and wellness center was constructed to meet the needs of the Lakeside community.

Sawmill Creek Beach Entrance

Tucked away from the usual spots. There's no parking close to the beach, and we visited at night, so there were lots of bugs. Nonetheless, it's very beautiful.

Nickel Plate Beach

This beach is actually quite nice and sandy. There is a bit of debris on the beach, but it doesn't bother me much—it's just part of nature. The beach is fairly wide but not very long, so it can get a bit crowded at times. Parking costs $6. The bathrooms are clean and there's an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand. There's also a playground for young children and a nearby restaurant for drinks and snacks. The water is clear and you can walk out quite a distance while it still only reaches your hips (I'm 5'4"). The beach is all sand, so no need for water shoes. There's a nice walking path close to the water if you want to take a stroll. I would recommend this place for a pleasant day at the beach, whether you're alone or with family. Note that pets are not allowed on the beach.

Cedar Point Beach

What a fantastic spot! We had an amazing time enjoying the beach and all the exciting activities available. It almost feels like you're actually by the ocean. Being from the Jersey Shore, I know the real deal, and this place definitely measures up. We thoroughly enjoyed the games, and the staff was wonderful, particularly Hanna, who was incredibly helpful and a great addition to the beach. The views and the atmosphere were simply delightful.

Waterworks Park Beach

This place is absolutely stunning and incredibly peaceful. You have the option to either lounge on the beach or take a refreshing swim in the water. The presence of the nearby states and the charming little lighthouse adds to the overall appeal. Additionally, there are plenty of small shells scattered around and people often enjoy fishing in this area. We thoroughly enjoyed strolling along the rock pier, despite it being a bit eerie, it was still a lot of fun. If you're someone who enjoys unwinding and relaxing, this is definitely a place worth visiting. Moreover, there are several restaurants in close proximity, as well as a ball field and a small park nearby.

The Shores Club Beach

Yesterday, we decided to give The Shores a try for the first time. As we looked through the menu, we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices for a waterfront restaurant. However, despite being affordable, the prices still felt too high for what we received. I opted for a gyro, which turned out to be the worst one I've ever had. On the other hand, my husband ordered a rueben, which was decent. Today, while enjoying the beach, we decided to give The Shores another chance. I ordered the $10 tacos, which came with two flour tortillas, only one shrimp per taco (with the tail on), and a small amount of onion and lettuce. My husband went for the chicken tenders, which were once again decent, but it's hard to mess those up. The attention to detail was lacking. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to this place. It's disappointing to see such potential go to waste.
