The beach stretches out for quite a distance, with soft sand that is interrupted by pebbles in some areas, particularly along the water's edge. If you venture towards the Petre Bridge side, you'll find La Playa taverna, a cozy restaurant with a covered seating area right next to the beach. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, with a focus on traditional Cretan cuisine. You'll also find plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach, as well as a few in the garden area under the trees, which are free for customers to use. The staff are attentive and will happily bring you drinks and snacks without being pushy. If you decide to take a dip in the sea, there's a lifeguard station nearby for added safety. However, be aware that the sea can be quite rough at times, as is often the case in Crete. It's a good idea to bring beach shoes, as the sand can get very hot and the small stones can be difficult to walk on when you come out of the water.
