Kedrodasos Beach

Nestled beneath the famous Elafonisi Beach lies Kedrodasos, a hidden gem of the region. This stunning beach is blanketed with fragrant juniper trees and is completely secluded from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are no modern amenities or commercial establishments in sight, making it the perfect spot for a peaceful escape. Although the walking path to Kedrodasos is not marked on Google Maps, we were able to reach it in under an hour by asking locals for directions. We arrived early in the morning, and the beach was serene and picturesque. As the day progressed, more and more people arrived, setting up tents among the junipers. It became evident that the beach would soon be bustling with activity. After basking in the beauty of the morning, we retraced our steps back to Elafonisi. Along the way, we were delighted to spot mountain goats making their way down to the beach. Kedrodasos is a true natural wonder that is definitely worth the effort to visit.

This beach in Crete is truly exceptional, surpassing even the famed Elafonisi. It's a hidden gem, surrounded by lush trees and verdant vegetation, and the water is a breathtaking spectrum of blues. The rocks are teeming with colorful fish, adding to the natural beauty of the area. The sea is calm and refreshing, and the expansive stretches of sand provide ample space for everyone. Visitors to this beach are respectful of the environment and each other. While there are no amenities available, it's worth the effort to bring your own snacks and drinks. Be prepared for a short hike down a rocky path from the parking lot, and wear comfortable shoes. We loved our afternoon here so much that we plan to return tomorrow morning.

This beach is simply amazing. A leisurely walk along a scenic path for about 10 minutes is all it takes to get there. You won't need to bring any umbrellas as there are plenty of trees providing natural shade for you to relax under. Please be mindful to not leave any litter on the beach or under the trees. If you're traveling to or from Palaiochora, I highly recommend taking the road trip via Sklavopoula as it's shorter and has minimal traffic. Although some parts are under construction, the roads are in excellent condition. Plus, you'll have excellent 4G VODAFON signal to stay connected.

While there may be a few campers and tents scattered about, it's nothing compared to the crowds at nearby Elafonissi. The road leading to the beach is well-paved, but it's best to park at the beginning of the road to avoid any damage to your vehicle. A short 5-8 minute walk along a scenic path leads you to the stunningly beautiful and crystal-clear waters. The water is refreshingly cool, yet not too cold, making it the perfect spot to take a dip and soak up the natural beauty surrounding you.

Undoubtedly, this beach on Crete is the epitome of beauty. It rivals even the esteemed Balos beach, yet boasts the added convenience of accessibility. The azure hues of the water are so captivating that you could spend hours gazing at it, unable to look away. The beach's immaculate white sand is reminiscent of those found in the Caribbean, and the lack of plastic waste only adds to its allure. The cedar trees provide ample shade, making it a delightful spot to unwind. I have visited countless beaches, yet this one reigns supreme. While the descent to the beach may not be arduous, it is advisable to forego flip-flops.
