The beach is quite spacious, with shallow waters that are ideal for children and plenty of secluded areas for privacy. However, the water may not be very clear and can be cold.

Sandy beach is considered the best in the Tidewater area. However, access is restricted to those with base access. Additionally, the water temperature is noticeably warmer than that of VA Beach, by approximately 10°-15°.
