The tranquility, the peacefulness, the vastness of the sea (Bay of Bengal), and the powerful waves are simply mesmerizing. There are very few, if any, people around as this beach is located 35 km away from the main city of Puri, known for the Jagannath Puri temple. Those who do come here are usually visiting the nearby Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can swim in the sea and change your clothes behind the bushes (there are no changing rooms). If you prefer a beach with coast guard presence and changing facilities, then Puri Beach near the Jagannath Temple is more suitable, although it tends to be crowded. Here, you can enjoy complete tranquility and serenity, with the soothing sound of waves refreshing your soul.
You can truly feel the saying, "kabhi kabhi manzil se zyada suffer khubsurat hota h"... But in this case, both the journey and the destination are beautiful. By the way, as mentioned by a guide in the review list, Partha Mukharjee is absolutely right—this beach is not safe for bathing or swimming. However, the road conditions have improved significantly and are now very driveable. You can park your car or bike at the end of the village near the cyclone shelter or school (I can't recall exactly) and then take a short 5-minute walk to reach your destination. The place is peaceful, with zero crowds and no shops. MAKE SURE to return before dark because you'll be passing through a forested area with no streetlights to guide you back to the Balidokan, Konark-Kakatpur road.
