During the summer months of August, we ventured to this beach and our experience proved to be quite challenging. Firstly, the hike to the beach lacked any shade, making it a strenuous climb. Additionally, we were not adequately prepared, as we had insufficient water to sustain us during the ascent. It is imperative to have ample water supply as there are no water sources along the way. The hike to the monastery took us two hours, and we struggled to locate the blue path, which is situated near the White House. The descent to the beach was not a clearly defined path, and one has to be vigilant to avoid any injuries. After a descent of approximately 40 minutes, we finally arrived at the secluded beach, which was breathtakingly beautiful and devoid of crowds. However, there are other equally stunning beaches in Hydra, and the hike was not worth the effort for us. The most grueling part of the hike was the ascent to the monastery, which took us an hour, and we were left exhausted due to the scorching sun, lack of water, and physical exertion. Fortunately, we were able to replenish our water supply at the monastery, which is not always open. The descent was comparatively easier than the ascent.
In conclusion, I would recommend this hike to those who are mentally and physically prepared and have the necessary equipment such as good shoes, water, and food. It is possible to take a boat to the beach, which may be a more feasible option for those who are not up for the hike. Best of luck to those who embark on this challenging hike.
