About

Faliraki Beach is a three miles long main shore of the most popular Rhodes resort Faliraki. It’s also often called Golden Beach. Every year it is awarded the Blue Flag. Apart from it, resort Faliraki also has two interesting beaches – the rocky bay Kathara and the nudist beach Mandomata.

Faliraki Beach is located 9 miles from the city Rhodos in Greece along the Eastern coast of the island. A trip by bus from there to Faliraki costs 2,40 Euro, by taxi – 20 Euro, and renting a car – 12-45 Euro/day (everything depends on the season).

This long beach near Faliraki Rhodes is sandy until its midpoint, then it becomes sand-and-shingle to the North. Entrance to the water is sandy along all the coastline, sloping and continuous. The water warms up quickly at the beginning of the season, so by the middle of May it is already comfortable to swim, the sea is calm, and has no waves. Anyway, a water minibus may cause a wave, to the сommon delight of those who are swimming. In some places at the entrance to the sea, it’s necessary to overcome the pebble drift, special aqua shoes will help to cope with it without pain.

The width of the beach from very narrow, with only one row of the sun loungers in the center of Faliraki, gradually turns into a wide shore that may comprise up to ten rows of sun loungers with sun shades. The bottom from the purely sandy becomes sand-and-shingle to the North. So, to the North of the Blue Sea Hotel, in the water appear huge flat slabs, rocks, and large rocks. A running path of wooden flooring is underlaid all along the Faliraki beach. That’s why the transition between different parts of the beach is not complicated, and it's possible to move to a place with a more comfortable entrance to the sea.

Some of the big hotels of the first line change coverage of the beach and entrance in the sea for more comfortable ones for their guests. For example, the hotel Apollo Beach has arranged a huge green glade between the housings and the sea, it’s equipped with free of charge sun loungers and sunshades. So, there are only rows of paid sun loungers on the municipal shore.

Or charming, recently renovated, apartments Beach Break (earlier Gregory Peck Apartments & Studios) have organized the whole beach complex around its cafe "Aspro beach bar" with tables, sofas, installations, free sun loungers, and comfortable decks for sunbathing.

There are lots of things to do in Faliraki Beach all along, it’s possible to find entertainment to suit any budget and taste at holidays. This is the place that has got the widest choice of them. There are arranged water sports with the rental of special equipment. They are created either for beginners, with whom experienced trainers are engaged or for professional sportsmen.

Also, there are various water activities for tourists of all ages and water entertainments from inflatable playgrounds to parasailing. It’s necessary to list all of them: Ringo and water sled rides, water sleds children, water sled safari, crazy sofa, floating rings, fly fish, water skiing, catamarans and bicycles, bungee jumping, windsurfing, rent of motorboats and jet skis.

Faliraki Beach is the most suitable place for a family vacation with children of all ages. Warm, clearly pure and transparent water, sloping and sandy entrance in the sea. A large variety of water entertainments, a wonderful waterpark, a small zoo, an amusement park, and also a wide choice of accommodation and dining options make Faliraki an ideal resort for children.

Faliraki Beach, like all the beaches of Rodos, is municipal and access to them is free in the area of any hotel. Perfect order and cleanliness are kept in these areas. Most of them have free car parking lots. There are zones of wild beach between them, sometimes rather long.

As for the coastline of Faliraki, it’s necessary to say that it’s a narrow strip, densely blocked up with paid sun loungers, very crowded and noisy. It’s nearly impossible to push in a towel or a mat, only near the sea’s brim. To take a sun lounger, it’s necessary to come early in the morning. The streets and hotels of the central village are too close to the sea, leaving a narrow strip for the beach. Somewhere there are only one or two rows of sun loungers. Hotel Aquarius Beach has one of the housings, located almost directly on the beach of the village of Faliraki. There are just a few meters from the sea to your patio, and it is in the most popular and crowded place on the beach.

A distinctive feature of Faliraki Beach is that there are presented conditions for interesting and comfortable relaxation of any type for any person. It may be action-packed nightlife with happy beach parties, a secluded place to sunbathe topless, a great possibility to go in for water sports, and an amazing place to relax with children. It's even possible to find an interesting aquarium nearby. So, the place has got everything that Traganou and Lindos beaches offer.

We went to the beach for a short visit, staying only a few hours. The strong wind made it uncomfortable to stay for an extended period. There were no beach bars available, and the cost of sunbeds was 20 euros for two. Additionally, we noticed that the beach was quite dirty, with a significant amount of plastic littered in the sand.

The seaside town is absolutely amazing for a beach vacation, offering everything you could possibly need. You'll find a variety of shops, numerous restaurants, and a beautiful long beach. It's worth noting that the beach is covered in pebbles, so it's advisable to come prepared for that.

As you continue along the beach, you'll eventually come to a spot where there are hardly any rocks. I spotted some larger fish not too far from shore. The beach is quite stunning.

Although not the most beautiful beach on the island, it stands out for its exceptional convenience. Additionally, it possesses its own unique charm.

The beach is absolutely beautiful and stretches out for a long distance. It's perfect for taking a leisurely walk by the sea. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and bars in the area. Just make sure to wear comfortable flip flops because the sand can get very hot. If you happen to be traveling with dogs, it's not advisable to take them for a walk during the daytime in Greece during the summer season. However, if you go to the beach with your dog in the early morning or evening when it's less hot, just be sure to check that the sand isn't too hot for your furry friend's paws. I briefly stepped on the sand with my bare feet and it was scorching hot. It's best to walk with your flip flops until you reach the water. Generally, there isn't much free space to lay your own towel on the beach as sunbeds are mostly everywhere. Even if you're only planning to spend a short time there, like an hour or just a quick dip, you might struggle to find a free spot. If your hotel doesn't have beach access, each beach bed will cost you 5€ every time. Unfortunately, even if you're traveling with family or a group of people, or if you choose the same beach bed every day, you'll still have to pay the same price. They don't offer any discounts, unlike other Greek beaches where they consider the number of people or if you're a regular customer. So unless you plan on staying the entire day, it might not be worth the price, especially if you're traveling with a large family group as it can get quite expensive.
