Just got back from a five-night stay at the Avra Beach Hotel. This hotel is literally right on the beach. They have two outdoor bars, one offering cakes, ice cream, sandwiches, tea, coffee, and fizzy drinks for self-service, and the other serving alcohol. Both bars are open until midnight. There are Greek and Italian snack bars that serve Gyros, moussaka, pastas, pizzas, and all drinks including wine and beer until 5:30 PM. The pool bar has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. The food at the restaurant was very nice, and they have themed nights every night, such as Asian, Mexican, and Mediterranean cuisines. They also have the usual favorites available, so there's something for everyone. The bar staff were fantastic, as were the entertainment team and the evening shows were pretty good too. The reception staff were very helpful, and they offer a private bus to town for €6/person round trip, which is not much more expensive than the public bus. It's worth it because it's quicker, less crowded, and has air conditioning. Overall, it's a nice hotel. Now, onto the few negatives... It's not quite a 4-star hotel, but it's close. The bathrooms in some rooms are a bit disappointing, with an over shower bath, low ceiling height, and a shower fitting that's too close. I'm only 5ft7 and had trouble getting wet. There's no ventilation, the shower curtain doesn't fit, and it's damp and smelly. However, when we asked to be moved, the lady at reception was very helpful and offered us a room on a lower floor with a refurbished bathroom/wet room the next day, which was fine. The room itself is a decent size for two people, but it's a bit dated. These rooms are in the original part of the hotel, and there's a non-refundable fee of €19 to use the safe in the room. The sunbeds are a mix of newer ones and older ones that have seen better days. They're very dirty, with many broken parts, and they're ripped or torn, so they're not comfortable at all. There's not much in the area, but you can walk to town in about an hour, which is a nice stroll along the beachfront. All in all, it was a very good stay, just let down by a few small but important features.

I didn't have much time to plan this last-minute holiday, but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The location is right on the pebbly beach, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms were a bit smaller than I expected, but since we didn't spend much time in them, it wasn't a problem. The food selection was amazing and there was plenty of it. In case we didn't want to dine in the main restaurant, there was also a beach bar available for lunch. The bar staff, including Anastasia, George, Michael one and two, and their supervisor Billy, were incredible. They were always willing to help, very friendly, and had a good command of English. Would we consider going back? Absolutely, we definitely would.

The service is excellent, and most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The meals offer a wide variety of food options, catering to everyone's taste. The food is served buffet-style, so it may not be piping hot, but that wasn't an issue for me. Each night, there is a different food theme. The hotel is conveniently located right on the beach, providing sunbeds both by the pool and on the beach for guests to enjoy. During our stay in mid-September, we always managed to find a sunbed on the beach after breakfast. The beach is covered in pebbles, so it's advisable to wear footwear. Additionally, the water is pleasantly warm. The rooms are cleaned daily, and fresh towels are provided. In the evenings, there is entertainment by the pool, which livens up the atmosphere. While it's not exceptional, it's still enjoyable. Throughout the day, there are various games and events that guests can participate in. The hotel also offers a regular bus service to and from Rhodes Town for €6 round trip, which is a fantastic convenience. The journey takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. We took advantage of the spa at the hotel and found the massage to be quite satisfying. However, it's worth noting that the music from the poolside can be heard in the treatment rooms. Overall, we would definitely choose to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone considering a visit.

10 Exceptional

This hotel is absolutely amazing. I had an incredible two-week vacation here and just returned home last week. The hotel is situated in a stunning and peaceful location right next to the sea. The staff is extremely friendly and always has a smile on their faces. Even though I was traveling alone, they made me feel incredibly welcome, especially the dining room staff. They were so lovely, kind, and attentive during meal times. Getting to know them through little chats made my vacation even more special. The reception staff was also very friendly and helpful. The all-inclusive package is perfect, and the food is delicious, diverse, and healthy. I particularly enjoyed listening to the traditional Greek music whenever it played in the restaurant! I would highly recommend this fantastic hotel to anyone. It's the perfect place for a relaxing getaway in the sunshine, surrounded by such beautiful scenery. Thanks to this hotel, I now have a deep admiration for the Greek people! ❤️ A big thank you to all the staff for doing such an incredible job taking care of us. I would absolutely love to return in the future!

We had a wonderful experience at Avra Beach. The service provided was exceptional and the staff were outstanding. The facilities are of high quality, although not quite reaching excellence. The food options available are impressive, catering to a variety of tastes. The restaurants and snack bar are also well-designed. The entertainment team is fantastic, offering something for everyone, and the evening shows are of good quality. The pool area is beautifully maintained, and although the beach has a combination of sand and pebbles, once you step into the water, it becomes sandy. Additionally, the views across the strait to Turkey are absolutely breathtaking.
