Karavostasi Beach

This beach is a wonderful spot for families, with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The water is calm and shallow, perfect for little ones to splash around in. However, it can get crowded quickly, so it's best to arrive early to secure a spot. If you're not a fan of sunbeds, you may find the limited free space a challenge. Luckily, there are a few shaded areas on the right side of the beach that are ideal for babies. And if you're feeling peckish, make sure to check out the delicious offerings at Karavostasi Tavern!

I visited the beach in August and found the water to be warm and relatively clear, although not the most pristine I've seen in Crete. The beach itself is a mix of pebbles and sand, but it's an excellent spot for snorkelling. Beware of the mischievous little fish that like to nibble on your ankles though! Sunbeds are available for rent at a reasonable price of 7€ for the whole day, and pedalo rentals are also an option at 15€ per hour. It's best to arrive early if you want to secure a sunbed, as they tend to fill up quickly from around 11am. There's a small parking area nearby for those driving, and easy access to the beach. Three tavernas are situated just above the beach, offering a range of local snacks, Freddo Espresso and other refreshments. Free cabins and showers are available, making this a well-equipped and child-friendly beach. Overall, it's a lovely little spot that's definitely worth a visit.

Complete with all the necessary amenities, including sunbeds, showers, changing rooms, and ample parking, this beach is also home to three charming taverns, of which Karavostasi Tavern comes highly recommended.

We visited this beach in August and found it to be small but well-equipped. It's best to arrive in the morning to secure a spot. The sea is absolutely stunning, and you can easily spend hours snorkeling. Additionally, the tavernas serve delicious food.

This beach is just perfect and has all the necessary amenities. When we arrived at midday, the place was crowded, which we expected. However, the staff quickly found us a spot under an umbrella in the grass area towards the back. Although I was a bit disappointed not to be directly on the sand, I soon realized how grateful I was to be on the grass when I burned my feet walking to the water. Plus, my kids didn't have to worry about wearing their sandals. The service was excellent, and the food was so delicious that we even ordered seconds! Furthermore, the moscato was very good. Parking can be tricky, but we got lucky this time.
