Oh, what a delightful discovery Avalaki Beach was! Thanks to Yiota for leading us to this hidden gem located a few kilometers away from the main coastal highway on the NE side of Corfu Island. The beach boasts a perfectly-shaped horseshoe, and during our visit in late May, it was delightfully spacious and uncrowded. There was plenty of room to stretch out, ample parking, and crystal-clear waters that were simply stunning.
While the beach itself is rocky, as is typical of many Corfu beaches, the water was a sight to behold. It was so clear that you could see straight to the bottom. There were only minor traces of rubbish, mostly plastic bottles from careless boat passengers or inconsiderate beach-goers.
As you make your way down to the beach, you'll find several restaurants, but none are located on the beach itself. However, this didn't detract from our experience in the slightest. The water is incredibly saline, making it easy to float effortlessly. In fact, it's nearly impossible to drown, even if you tried!
In conclusion, we highly recommend taking the time to visit this stunning and underappreciated beach. You won't be disappointed!
