Fantastic beach for both walking and swimming/playing in the water. The water has a gentle slope and the sand is beautiful with plenty of shells. Lifeguards are on duty, and it's just a short walk from the car park (porta-loos available if needed).

Stunning beach all year round. Recently, a shipwreck has become visible near the river mouth. According to the Irish National Monuments Service: "These are the remains of the SS Algores, which sank on September 8, 1925, at Dunfanaghy Bar. The steamer was en route from Liscannor to Belfast carrying a cargo of stones when it sprang a leak and had to dock at Dunfanaghy in a sinking state. The vessel was beached near Dunfanaghy Bar, flooded, and eventually broke apart. Fortunately, there was no loss of life."

Beautiful Beach! Convenient access with a car park near the entrance. Alternatively, you can park farther away and enjoy a walk through the lush green golf course. The beach is expansive with soft sand, stunning rocks, and scenic hills. The waves are fantastic! The water is clear and blue. I will definitely return for a longer holiday!
