The Island is absolutely beautiful, just as you would expect. Our beach villa room was quite nice, and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and delightful, always striving to provide excellent service. However, there are numerous issues with this resort. I have serious doubts that the general manager of this hotel has any prior experience managing a hotel (I even question if they have ever stayed in a regular hotel, because if they had, they would easily be able to compile a long list of all the things that are wrong here).
Alternatively, it seems that the owners are unwilling to allocate any funds for the day-to-day necessities. Here are the main problems:
The second restaurant is permanently closed, leaving only the one main buffet restaurant.
There are no themed nights or BBQ nights - every day feels the same in the buffet.
The food is extremely basic and monotonous, with hardly any fruit options available.
The "cooking stations" only offer pancakes, omelets, and similar dishes (at every meal).
The staff don't even have a standard uniform or name badges.
They ran out of white wine for approximately 5 days, received a delivery, and then ran out again just 2 days later. They even ran out of beer! (Many basic items are simply unavailable).
Most of the equipment in the fitness center is broken (and they weren't even aware of it, let alone able to fix any of it).
The water villas resemble a construction site with empty, dilapidated buildings.
A whole section of beach villas near the main reception area is also abandoned and under construction.
All in all, it would be wise to avoid this resort. There are plenty of others that offer a far superior overall experience.
