The Enseada de Lourido is nestled at the foot of cliffs around fifty meters high. It is located on the Costa Doce in Sada, between Punta de Lourido to the north and Punta de Armenteiro to the south.
The main beach is located to the north (on the left when arriving). At high tide, you have to climb a few rocks to get there. But it's definitely worth it. If you come with young children, you will still need to be very careful.
Praia de Lourido ends with a splendid islet which, like Morazon, has a eucalyptus tree growing at its top. The winds from Noroit have laid it down a little. But he holds on. At the end of the afternoon, the light on this islet and the Ria de Betanzos is absolutely magnificent.
To the south, the Lourido cove is made up of 4 micro-coves which follow one another between rocky spurs. The largest is less than 10 meters wide. Their access path at high tide is quite perilous.
We passed at the end of the afternoon. The lighting on the islet of Punta de Lourido was magical. But everything else was in the shadow of the cliffs because the cove faces due east.
The ideal time to come to Lourido is therefore probably in the morning when the tide is low. The cliffs will provide some shade from 1 p.m. Enough to have a nice cool picnic.
To park your vehicle, we advise you to leave it near the Santo André de Carnoedo church, or its Calvary. Don't even imagine going further with a camper van. It's too narrow. You will have approximately 700 meters to go on foot. You will cross the beautiful little hamlet of Carnoedo with its very colorful houses, a very original mailbox, and splendid vegetable gardens with a breathtaking view of the Ria de Betanzos.
In conclusion, among the many beaches we visited during our big roadtrip around A Coruña, Praia de Lourido is our favorite tied with Praia do Rego / Cortello in Valdoviño. With its pristine and natural character, Lourido is the most picturesque
