Located on the southern coast, this beach is truly iconic, boasting towering white cliffs and a vast stony beach that becomes visible during low tide. Its instantly recognizable lighthouse adds to its charm. One of the things that sets this place apart is the presence of a sturdy metal staircase, providing quick and easy access to the beach, a rarity in this area. Ample paid parking is available, although National Trust members can enjoy it for free by scanning their membership card. However, it tends to get quite crowded during peak season, so for a more peaceful visit, it is advisable to arrive early or late. When I visited, the atmosphere was truly delightful, with the evening sun casting a warm glow over the austere coastguard cottages and the sound of waves gently lapping at the shore. If you are a fan of Birling Gap, I highly recommend taking a trip along the coast to Cuckmere Haven and the Seven Sisters, where you can enjoy lovely walks and breathtaking coastal views.
