Nakupenda Beach

Amazing sandbar with breathtaking views. Nakupenda translates to I adore you and the romantic atmosphere of this location is undeniable. I ventured there with our knowledgeable guide in the afternoon to avoid the crowds and ensure we had plenty of space to ourselves. If you desire, you can even partake in a dance with the friendly locals. The seafood lunch was incredibly tasty, complemented perfectly by the fresh fruits. I highly suggest visiting this enchanting spot!

This secluded and petite island is located just a short distance from the coast of Zanzibar. The crystal-clear waters and gentle waves make it a picturesque destination. Visitors often embark on day trips from Zanzibar to explore its beauty. To make the most of your visit, consider organizing a trip with your own companions, chartering a private boat for transportation, bringing along your favorite music, setting up a cozy campsite with chairs or mats, packing a grill and all the essential supplies for a delightful outdoor feast.

Experience is INCREDIBLE. You can capture picture-perfect moments here but... We were greeted with beautiful weather upon arrival, followed by a storm that "cleansed" the beach of both human and plastic intruders, before clearing up again. I believe there should be stricter regulations, protocols, and instructions on how to interact with tourists while preserving this natural treasure. While snorkeling, all I could see was water, rocks, sand, and PLASTIC SCATTERED EVERYWHERE. It was a disheartening and unsanitary sight.

Nakupend Island, also referred to as a sandbank and sandy island, is located closest to Fuguni Beach. It is easily visible from the main city and can be reached by boat. The island offers a variety of fresh seafood options such as prawns and octopus. The water surrounding the island is exceptionally clear, making it a must-visit destination. Despite the inclement weather, I had a fantastic time at the location. I recommend renting a boat privately (I paid 50000 shillings) and heading out early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the 700-strong crowd! One thing that stood out to me was the care taken by the staff and tour guides in maintaining the cleanliness of the area by picking up any litter left behind.
