I went for a bike ride and was impressed by the history and the visit to the fort. It's a great destination for a ride of around 20 miles. You can choose to ride on the road, the paved bike path, or the dirt roads between the parking areas and the beach. Parking was abundant and cost $5 for the day. You need to pay for parking via the ParkMobile app or at the kiosk located at each main path to the beach from each parking area. North Beach was crowded on a Sunday. Overall, the biking experience was fantastic.

If you're seeking a historical fort experience, this site may not meet your expectations, as Battery Laidley is the only remaining structure. However, climbing atop the battery offers expansive views of the barrier islands to the north and south. While Battery Laidley is heavily overgrown with vegetation, the interior rooms have been well-preserved. The site features pictures and maps depicting the fort's original appearance, along with a gift shop and a small museum.

I moved to the area a few years ago and decided to visit this place last week. Having seen old forts across the country, I found this one to be fairly average. It's from the Spanish American War and features about half a dozen cannons and a few rooms. One of the rooms has some interesting pictures and maps. There's also a beach and a pier nearby. It's worth a visit at least once.

Visited the park to catch a glimpse of the Egmont Key lighthouse from the pier, and it did not disappoint. The pier was bustling with both people fishing and a variety of birds. There were so many birds of all different shapes and sizes. Fort De Soto Park is expansive, offering numerous trails and plenty of space. The beach was stunning and lively. Although the fort is small, it is rich in history.

An amazing park! The beach is perfect for kids as it's very shallow. The nature walks are stunning and well-maintained. Kayaking here is a blast, and you get to see a lot of wildlife. The fort is a fascinating experience with plenty of information. You can even explore parts of it and get a sense of what it was like to be there.
