Upon arriving at Shelter Island, I was unfortunately stopped by the police who were checking vehicles. While I waited for my little errand to be completed, I decided to take a stroll along the beach. Despite the beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere, my experience was soured by receiving a $100 ticket. It's disheartening to see how the natural beauty of the beaches are being exploited for monetary gain. Perhaps implementing a payment system for visitors would be a fair compromise, but it seems as though the authorities are not concerned with the well-being of their guests.

This beach is a pristine and welcoming destination for families, complete with convenient amenities like restrooms and a hose for rinsing off. The sand is a bit rocky, but it's adorned with an abundance of beautiful shells. The water is pleasantly warm, though you may encounter some seaweed. Despite the beach not being crowded during our visit, there was ample parking available.

However, it's worth noting that the beach has some rocky patches, so it's advisable to wear water shoes to avoid any discomfort. Despite this, the beach is not overcrowded, making it a perfect destination for a relaxing day out.

Shelter Island boasts a plethora of stunning beaches, but this particular one has captured my heart. The water here is notably warmer and perfect for a refreshing swim or a leisurely paddle on a kayak or paddleboard. The public bathrooms are immaculately clean, a rare find at most beaches. As the sun sets, the beach transforms into a breathtakingly beautiful sight, perfect for a romantic evening stroll or a peaceful moment of reflection.
