The final stretch of Highway 101 in SLO county leads to a picturesque beach with breathtaking sunsets. It's an ideal spot for family gatherings, and I have fond memories of spending countless hours here as a child. Recently, I returned to capture some drone footage and was delighted to find the beach deserted. It was as though I had the entire stretch of sand to myself, making for an unforgettable experience.

My family and I embarked on a delightful day trip to Avila Beach, accompanied by my significant other. Upon arrival at around 10:30 am / 11 am, we noticed that the beach was already quite crowded. Nevertheless, we managed to secure a charming spot. The water was refreshingly cold and possessed a pleasant saltiness. The overall ambiance was delightful, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It should be noted that dogs are prohibited on the beach during specific hours; however, we noticed an alternative section of the beach that was brimming with dogs as we drove towards the pier, making it an ideal location for dog lovers. I highly recommend this beach as it offers numerous dining and shopping options on the boardwalk.

The beach's location was truly breathtaking. It's the ideal spot to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Weekdays are the perfect time to visit, as it's less crowded and more serene. However, we visited on a Saturday when it was bustling with excitement due to the opening of Ca. Despite the cold water, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beach. I decided to stay back and watch our little dog while the rest of the family ventured out onto the sandy shores. Unfortunately, we had to wait for an hour as dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10am-5pm. Nevertheless, I relaxed and watched the waves, feeling at peace with nature. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a rejuvenating beach getaway. Don't forget to share your adventure with us!
