Cayucos Beach

The beach is absolutely lovely and tends to be quite popular and bustling on weekends. During low tide, there are fantastic tide pools to explore both to the north and south of the main beach area. Additionally, you can enjoy fishing on the pier without needing a license. The view of Morro Rock is truly excellent. There is an abundance of sea life, including whales, dolphins, sea lions, and sea otters residing in the kelp beds. To fully appreciate the experience, be sure to bring a pair of good binoculars.

Unfortunately, we didn't have much success spotting whales. We did manage to catch a glimpse of some distant movement, though. Nonetheless, the beach city is absolutely stunning. The local cuisine is delicious, and the antique stores are fantastic.

Cayucos Beach is consistently beautiful, with its mesmerizing sound of the waves. Additionally, it offers a delightful opportunity for bird watching. It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a weekend getaway.

Living on the Central Coast of CA means being fortunate enough to have an abundance of beautiful beaches. Due to this, the beaches tend to attract either tourists or a small number of locals. One notable feature of this particular beach is its pier, which holds a fascinating history as it played a crucial role in establishing Cayucos as a transit and shipping point early on. The Vets Center, previously a warehouse for the pier and later transformed into a community center, is currently undergoing restoration. Additionally, the beach provides necessary facilities such as bathrooms and playground equipment. While the views are pleasant, the water can be quite turbulent and chilly. For those seeking a safer beach experience, Avila would be a better choice. Despite being a small town, Cayucos offers a decent selection of dining options, with Cayucos Sausage & Deli being the standout for its homemade food. As a pit stop between the Big Sur/San Simeon area and SLO itself, it is a reasonable choice, although nearby Morro Bay offers a wider range of attractions. The towns of Cayucos, Morro Bay, Baywood, and Los Osos blend together to create a delightful area along the coast, offering a multitude of obvious and hidden gems to explore, such as the unique dwarf forest.

While driving along the scenic route from LA to SF, we decided to make a pit stop at this beach, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. The beach itself is absolutely stunning, with a long wooden pier stretching out into the sea, cozy benches lining its path, and a beautiful sandy shoreline. The ocean is truly awe-inspiring, and the majestic hills in the background add to the picturesque scenery. One of the great things about this beach is that there is free parking available, as well as a variety of shops, a gas station, and several food options nearby. Additionally, there is a public restroom on-site that is not only free but also clean and decent. The beach was not overly crowded, but it also wasn't empty. The people around were friendly and polite, creating a welcoming atmosphere. It seems like a paradise for surfers, as there were plenty of them enjoying the waves. To add to the pleasant ambiance, the beach was adorned with Christmas decorations, which added to the overall mood. All in all, this beach is truly an awesome place to visit!
