Four Mile Beach

4-mile-beach is a hidden gem nestled away from highway 1, providing a magical experience for those who venture on the 10-minute walk between two hills to reach the beach. The seclusion of the beach creates a private atmosphere, while still offering ample space for everyone to enjoy. Unlike other NorCal beaches, the weather can be cloudy and windy, and the ocean meets low cliffs abruptly. However, 4-mile-beach overcomes these challenges with its protective alcove that significantly cuts the wind and the funnel-shaped opening that provides decent sand coverage. Additionally, the concave shape of the coastline results in gentle waves. Despite its beauty, the beach is not without its faults. The sea water in the mini-bay may not circulate well, leading to a slight odor and flies near the immediate coastline. However, this issue only affects the area closest to the water, and a short walk down the beach will lead you back to the refreshing ocean. Overall, 4-mile-beach is one of the best beaches I have visited and I am sure to return frequently.

With fewer crowds, you can enjoy a peaceful day soaking up the sun and listening to the waves. For the adventurous types, the beach is a popular spot for surfing. As we stumbled upon the beach, we were pleasantly surprised by its stunning and distinctive beauty. The combination of rocks, sand, and wildflowers created a picturesque scene, but what truly caught our attention were the mesmerizing waves and the graceful surfers riding them. It was as if the beach had become our very own canvas, with endless possibilities for capturing its natural allure.

This beach is truly magnificent and stunning. Although the parking is complimentary, it requires a brief stroll to reach the shore. Unfortunately, there are no restrooms available on site. However, if you're up for a hike, the vistas from above are absolutely breathtaking. Just be cautious of the steep cliffs.

What an extraordinary location! I spent the entire day here, and it was worth every moment. This is an ideal destination to admire breathtaking vistas, catch some waves, and relish the true essence of the West Coast. During low tide, the tide pools reveal a plethora of fascinating creatures, which is a sight to behold. The colossal rock wall shields the beach from the wind, making it an ideal spot even on cooler days.
