The beach offers a picturesque view of the Golden Gate and a leisurely hike. Our visit on Saturday 3/5/22 at 7:30 AM was hassle-free, with ample parking available at the Ridge Battery lot and along the roadside. A brief 5-minute walk led us to stunning vista points and the upper battery's trailhead.
The hike itself was a pleasant experience, taking us approximately 25-45 minutes to complete the round trip. Along the way, we explored Battery Wagner, and the easy, non-shaded trail on packed dirt led us down to the beach. Day use areas near the beach had three restrooms, but only one was open for use. Beware of poison oak, which is prevalent in the area, and stick to the marked trails.
The beach itself was serene, with a maximum of five people present during our visit. The surrounding greenery, including the towering trees and a patch of Calla Lilies, added to the natural charm of the location. The Golden Gate Bridge was a sight to behold, with ships and kayaks passing underneath, and the San Francisco skyline in the backdrop.
We headed back to our car around 10:40 AM, and the beach was bustling with people. Overall, the beach offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and a refreshing outdoor experience.
