I stayed at the Fox Campground and had an incredibly relaxing time. The park was recently taken over by the county, so everything has been updated and looks fantastic. The campground now has new picnic tables and fire rings. Additionally, there is a picnic area, a pavilion, and a separate playground from the camping area.
All of the spots at the campground are great, but the waterfront spots are particularly beautiful. They are only about 100 yards away from the water. The beach itself is clean and sandy, with a few sandbars and only a minimal amount of shells washing up (I think they are zebra mussels). Out of all the spots, only three have electricity. Potable water is available at the entrance, and there are dumpsters and multiple clean porta potties (as clean as porta potties can be). However, there are no showers, regular bathrooms, or laundry facilities.
On the back side of the campground, there are dense woods with a note warning about the presence of poison ivy. Although I haven't seen any myself, it's important to be aware if you decide to venture into the woods.
The campground is dog-friendly, but it's important to clean up after your dog. Dogs are allowed on the beach and in the water without needing any permits, unlike the southern waterfront areas of Wisconsin.
The only downside I can think of is the noise from the nearby M35 road. It can be a bit loud at times. Additionally, make sure to bring bug spray as mosquitoes and flies are always around. Today, the flies are biting more than usual due to the upcoming rain.
Oh, and did I mention that the price is only $15 per night? For the spots with electricity, it's $25, and there's also a $10 processing fee. I will definitely be coming back to this campground in the future.
