Latest reviews on Normandy's beaches

Omaha Beach
8 Rami Tervo

This beach is truly unique, offering a fascinating blend of historical significance from the war era and breathtaking natural beauty. I took a refreshing swim and found it to be one of the finest beaches, despite the absence of showers or toilets. There were not many people swimming, but the beach itself had a lovely sandy shore and shallow waters.

Utah Beach
8 Samuel Reeves

Utah beach served as one of the two DDay landing beaches for the Americans. Although the number of casualties here was lower compared to Omaha beach, it doesn't diminish the significance of this place. The beachfront is adorned with several memorials and sculptures, and there is also a well-maintained museum, dining options, and restroom facilities. If you happen to be in the area, it is highly recommended to take a moment to honor the sacrifices made by those who ensured our present-day freedom.

Asnelles Beach
10 T-Alco

Asnelles is a pleasant, low-key resort. It essentially shuts down at the end of August, as evidenced by this photo taken in early September. The worn British flag is even displayed upside down! The Carrefour store is well-stocked, and the boulangerie is good but closes at 1:00 PM and isn't open on Thursdays. There's a tiny market on Thursdays. The biscuit shop and tea room are good. However, there's limited choice for vegetarians seeking a good meal. Le Cale offers nothing, and O Dune Zen is overpriced, now under new management, and has declined in quality. The Italian place next door appears to be permanently closed. The best option is to go self-catering. The beach is lovely and expansive at low tide, and you can walk to the Mulberry Harbour.

Etretat Beach
10 Jenna Valentina

We had a fantastic time spending the whole day at the beach in beautiful Etraret. There were plenty of activities to keep us entertained, and a wide range of dining options to choose from. I stumbled upon a small library where both kids and adults can take a break from the sun and enjoy some reading time. Additionally, I highly recommend taking a short walk to the top of the hills to admire the breathtaking views. Just a reminder, the beach is made of stones, so keep that in mind if you plan on spending the entire day there. Also, exercise caution when it comes to kids swimming, as the waters can be quite strong. I hope you have as much enjoyment in Etraret as we did.

Ouistreham Beach
8 Kadir Yilmaz

This beach is perfect for wind sports and activities. I plan on returning with a better itinerary. Additionally, the beach has a rich history and a large tide. However, the lack of sun in August was a bit disappointing.

Green Island Beach
10 Lila Chambers

We enjoyed a beautiful sunset stroll at Green Island Beach. The parking was convenient, and when the tide recedes, there is a spacious beach and numerous rock pools to discover.
