We've been visiting this beach for years, often staying at the Residence for short breaks. We enjoy having meals and swimming in the sea or pool at the nearby hotel across the road. We were there yesterday and it was a fantastic experience, with reasonable prices at less than 900 baht. The chalet hotel across the road is also a great option at around 1200 baht per room, including breakfast. Today, on December 2nd, 2022, it's very quiet here. Additionally, the coastal drive going northwest offers stunning views of cliffs and rocks.
This Chanthaburi beach is a wonderful spot for both swimming and indulging in delectable cuisine at the numerous seaside cafes. It's best to plan your visit on a weekday as the weekends tend to get crowded with boats and jet skis in the water, and the cafes are bustling with activity. While the waters are safe for swimming during this season, it's important to heed the warning signs and red flags indicating no swimming. At the southern end of the beach lies the Chao Lao pier, where you can take a leisurely stroll and admire the colorful boats while observing the fishermen sorting their catch, which is often crabs instead of fish.
The gentle breeze is a welcome respite from the scorching sun. It's a stroke of luck that the temperature is just right for a quick escape to the beach, where we can take in the stunning scenery after a tiring journey.
