We have an immense fondness for exploring the boulders and uncovering the diverse hues and forms they possess. If one is aware of what to search for, sea glass can be discovered near the cliff, which was once utilized as a dumping ground for the ranch. This beach is steeped in history, and there is much to learn about its past. Additionally, there are hiking routes nearby that can be traversed on foot or horseback, which provide excellent opportunities for capturing photographs.
While it may not have the same level of notoriety as other stops along Route 1, this hidden gem is a true haven of tranquility and beauty for those traveling from LA to SFO via CA1. The serene mornings are perfect for a leisurely stroll along the beach or a visit to the breathtaking Morro rock. While surfing is a popular activity in the bay, it's important to note that there have been reports of shark attacks in the area. While driving along the scenic route from LA to SF, we decided to make a pit stop at this beach, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. The beach itself is absolutely stunning, with a long wooden pier stretching out into the sea, cozy benches lining its path, and a beautiful sandy shoreline. The ocean is truly awe-inspiring, and the majestic hills in the background add to the picturesque scenery. One of the great things about this beach is that there is free parking available, as well as a variety of shops, a gas station, and several food options nearby. Additionally, there is a public restroom on-site that is not only free but also clean and decent. The beach was not overly crowded, but it also wasn't empty. The people around were friendly and polite, creating a welcoming atmosphere. It seems like a paradise for surfers, as there were plenty of them enjoying the waves. To add to the pleasant ambiance, the beach was adorned with Christmas decorations, which added to the overall mood. All in all, this beach is truly an awesome place to visit!
The beach was quite intriguing with its unique feature of being covered in small pebbles and dark sand. My main purpose of visiting was to collect moonstones, but unfortunately, I didn't come across many, and the ones I did find were quite small. Nevertheless, the drive down to the beach was pleasant, and the overall ambiance of the place was serene and beautiful. It was a shame that I missed the seals sunbathing, as they usually do so in the morning, and I arrived in the afternoon.
