Latest reviews on Isla Vista's beaches

Arroyo Burro Beach

This charming and intimate beach, also referred to as Hendry's Beach, is a true gem. On days when the weather is lovely, parking can be a bit of a challenge. The beach is divided into two sections: the left side is a dog-friendly area, while the right side is not. If you're bringing your furry friend along, be sure they're comfortable off-leash and well-behaved. After a fun day in the sun, don't forget to take advantage of the doggie bath wash to clean off any sand. Additionally, The Boathouse restaurant is situated here and is highly regarded for its delicious cuisine, although it can be a bit of a wait to get a table.

While traveling between SoCal and Central Coast, I stumbled upon a charming and quaint beach that proved to be a hidden gem. The parking is complimentary and visitors can enjoy the convenience of picnic benches and BBQ stands. The beach boasts an array of natural treasures including shells, kelp beds, and unique photo opportunities. Additionally, a pier adds to the allure of this beach and provides easy access to the other side of the parking lot. Even those with disabilities can enjoy this beach as there are designated parking spots that are within easy walking distance. The walk to the water is a breeze and the sand is minimal, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a day of relaxation.

Leadbetter Beach

This beach is the perfect place to unwind and bask in the sun with your furry companion, Nala B. The beach is not overly crowded, and there is paid parking available for your convenience. The shoreline is simply beautiful, making it an ideal spot to soak up the scenery and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

Haskell's Beach

This beach is a beloved spot for locals and is conveniently located near the Bacara Resort and Sandpiper Golf Course. It's a short and easy walk from the parking area, and there's a snack shack available with limited hours. Outdoor showers are available for both feet and full body. The beachfront area is a decent size, but there is quite a bit of driftwood and natural debris scattered throughout. Unfortunately, there are no restrooms available. On the left side of the beach, you'll find old piers near coal oil point. The area is teeming with wildlife, and when the tides are low, it becomes quite expansive. The sunsets here are truly beautiful!

The beach near the University is absolutely stunning, and it has a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. It's not crowded at all, which makes it incredibly peaceful and perfect for finding inner peace.

When in Santa Barbara and in search of some surfing action, this beach is worth considering. However, be aware that parking space is scarce, and you'll need to walk for about five minutes to reach the shore. While the beach itself is not particularly remarkable, the surrounding mountains provide a stunning backdrop. During our visit in September, we encountered some tar that stuck to our skin, bathing suits, and surfboards. The water was murky and littered with seaweed and debris that day. Despite these minor setbacks, this beach is still worth checking out.
