La Paz had been on our bucket list for years because my friends and I always wanted to swim with the whale sharks. We're frequent travelers to Cabo, but we never had enough time for the long 2+ hour drive each way. For our trip in April 2023, we decided to dedicate our time exclusively to La Paz, and it definitely lived up to our expectations. The hotel is not exactly a 5-star establishment. We were hoping for something like the Ritz Carlton, but Costa Baja didn't quite match that level. However, the rooms were impeccably clean, the service was exceptional (comparable to the Ritz), and the housekeeping was flawless. The maids are early risers, just like us, and our rooms were cleaned every day before 10AM, which was exactly what we preferred. The property itself is small, but if you're looking for a hidden pool, check out the one near the gym. We had it all to ourselves, and it was absolutely wonderful. At night, the property is peaceful, serene, and simply perfect. During the day, there were occasionally some rowdy party-goers at the main pool, but we didn't mind since we were either out on the ocean or at the spa. The only suggestion I would make is to have more attentive bar servers around the main pool. We had to go to the bar ourselves to get our drinks, and even when we tipped generously, there wasn't an active staff of servers ensuring that we always had a drink by the pool. Overall, this is definitely the place I would recommend staying. Don't forget to try Cardon for brunch, which offers the most breathtaking view in all of La Paz.
