As you walk east from Mumbles point, the coastline path will lead you through some developed beaches on a well-maintained path. However, once you reach the far end of Caswell, the terrain becomes more rugged and can get quite muddy during the winter season. After a short trek around the cliff, you'll finally reach Brandy Cove, which is nestled between short, steep cliffs. This small, rocky inlet has a name that suggests some mysterious, ancient smuggling activity.
The best time to visit Brandy Cove is on a warm May Day when the late spring sunshine sparkles on the sea. There are no houses or cars to interrupt the peaceful atmosphere, and no ice cream parlors to distract you. This is a beautiful, unspoiled slice of the Gower coastline that's definitely worth a visit.
