Latest reviews on Auckland's beaches

Matakawau Beach
8 Katie Thornberry

The labeling of this beach near Awhitu house & Brook homestead is incorrect. It should be noted that Matakawau beach is located on Matakawau road.

Blockhouse Bay
10 Renlyn

The walk to the beach through the reserve is fairly easy. The beach itself is stunning and offers plenty of space for picnicking. There is limited parking available and a playground for children. Additionally, there are toilets that remain open in the evening. However, the water is not suitable for swimming and there are numerous shells scattered about. As you enter the reserve, it branches off into the Manukau Coastal Walkway, which provides walking and hiking trails.

Pakiri Beach
10 Sonny G

The beach is stunning, with peaceful white sand and not too many people around. Although the road to get there is bumpy, it's definitely worth the journey. The sea water meets a gentle stream, providing a safe place for kids to enjoy without any concerns about depth, while still having some small waves for fun. We're planning to return soon and stay for an extended period, camping in a tent.

Manukau Beach
10 Nitro G

The beach is small, but it is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. It is mostly covered in shells, so you have to be a bit careful when walking over the rocks. The views of the sea are absolutely surreal. This little beach is easily accessible via a sidewalk from the Waikowhai Walkway, just after crossing the entrance of Manukau Domain. Although it doesn't have an official name, it is referred to as "Beach" in the directions. There is street parking available at the entrance of Manukau Domain, but it is time-bound on school days. Unfortunately, there are no public restrooms available.

Karekare Beach
10 Kaelan Voss

Incredibly beautiful beach! The Karekare waterfall is only a short 5-minute stroll from the parking area. The road leading to the beach is pleasantly curvy, so it's advisable to drive at a leisurely pace as oncoming vehicles may not be visible around the bends.

Mission Bay Beach
10 Leco

While I was living in Auckland for my university studies, I frequently visited this place, sometimes on my own. It's a well-known spot for those looking for comfort when feeling down at night. The location provides a peaceful environment by the sea and sand. Additionally, there are several shops and cafes just across the road.
