This beach is a secluded spot with beautiful white sand. It's just you and the beach, as there are no restaurants or toilets around. Hikers do pass by on their way to the anaconda trail to sharp peak, which we also did. Just be careful not to get lost.

This is one of the loveliest beaches in Hong Kong and one of my personal favorites. The view from the beach is breathtaking, although the path leading to it can be a bit hazardous. But that's a minor concern, right?

4 Frustrating

To reach Tung Wan beach, the best route to hike is from the youth hostel in 赤徑. There are two ferry services available around 10:30 am and 5 pm. After reaching the beach, hike for an hour to 大灣 and then head north for another 30+ minutes. There are three other beaches located south of Tung Wan, but it is the most appropriate for overnight camping due to the availability of fresh water and fewer swimmers and yachts. The trail from 赤徑 is steep and challenging, whereas the trail via 大灣 is comparatively easier. If you are looking for a quick swim, then 大灣 is a better option than Tung Wan. Neither beach has any public facilities, but you can find a few stores in 咸田 and 西灣 located further south.
