Drive carefully on Haycock Road as it can be busy and winding, with native animals present. The road is unsealed and can be extremely potholed and corrugated, but it was recently graded and smoothed in late March 2022. Be cautious of oncoming traffic and stick to a speed limit of 40km/hr while enjoying the drive through the National Park. Be mindful of slippery conditions after rain and take care on this road.
The walking track down to Barmouth Beach is unpaved, unmaintained, and potentially dangerous for those with walking difficulties. There is no wheelchair access and the track is mildly steep.
Despite the challenges, the beach itself is beautiful with a sandy and scenic location. You can swim, explore, sunbathe, take photographs, and simply enjoy the surroundings. Just remember to take care and stay safe while visiting.
