A beach with some interesting features (go at low tide for best viewing).
We drove to Red Cliff camping area and parked. The walk along Plumbgao Beach to Buchanans Head takes about half an hour.
Once on Shelley Beach the first thing you will see is the unusual rock formations called Coffee Rock. This rock was formed during the last ice age from sandy river sediments and plant materials.
Further along the beach, about mid way, you will come across a small creek. If you are lucky you will see the remains of fossilise tree stumps sticking up out of the sand, the remains of a prehistoric forest.
