Even though my visit was to examine a dead whale, I couldn't help but be captivated by the stunning beauty of the place. The roads leading to Glencolumbcille are equally breathtaking, making it one of Ireland's most scenic areas. It's perfect for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and hillwalking. The traditional folk village museum is charming. The area also boasts good pubs, lively music, and a wonderfully friendly community.

Fantastic walk. Parking can be a bit tricky to find, but if you check along the roadside, there's a large sign featuring stones from every county in Ireland.
